How can we learn English? Here are ten secrets. Let me tell you about
shortcuts to success. First, listen. Please listen like babies to
mothers. Listen to final sounds. Listen as you play. Listening requires
immersion, relaxation, and integration. Listen to music, movies,
foreigners, native English speakers, and to things you care about
.
Second, repeat. Copy what you hear. Listen & repeat. Imitate
English speakers as often as you can out loud. Use your mouth. Practice
makes perfect. Talk slowly. Focus on
pronunciation like you are eating or like your life depends on it. Do it
until it hurts. Do it as often as you can. Start out slow. Be patient
when you study and speak. No pain, no gain. Talk like girls. Talk like
you love talking, but in English. Maintain this dedication
.
Third, write it down. Keep a notebook. Keep it simple. Write down
keywords. Write down outlines for the sake of your memory. We forget
things all of the time. Writing helps us internalize information.
Fourth, think in English. Please try to think in English. Translate what
you can to and from English. You do not have to be a master in English
today but you should at least make it a passion. Sixth, please find
friends you can practice with. Find English speakers if you can.
Seventh, learn English while you live your life. Study English while you
study other things that you really love. This is so important. Do what
you love and love what you do. Eight, learn English like you play games.
Make word associations, synaptic connections, to new vocabulary words.
Find synonyms in dictionaries and a thesaurus book. Use different kinds
of books, websites, people, tools, resources, and whatever you can.
Learn what sticks. Learn what you remember. If you can't learn
something, then write yourself a note about that and move on. Come back
later each day and try again

text, the words, at the bottom of the screen. Watch it in slow motion.
Stop the video, write down the lyrics or words. Say it after them. Do
all the skills of writing, speaking, listening, reading, and especially

number ten, teach English to others because that will shift your

Make the new words crucial for your survival. Overemphasize final sounds when enunciating (pronunciation). Focus on communication over grammar first. Focus on listening and then speaking. You learn grammar as you speak but please do not get lost in grammar and please learn the fundamentals and basics of English before learning an excess of slang, idioms, and stuff like that. Learn English while listening to music, watching movies with subtitles, and while living in general. You learn while you live. You die when you stop learning. Find videos on YouTube with subtitles. Go to Thesaurus . com and learn synonyms. Look at new words in different ways. Find ways to make new connections to new vocabulary words and things you are learning. You also learn while teaching.
