TGIF & Jesse....

Thank God It's Friday. One of my favorite childhood memories includes watching Thank Goodness It's Funny (TGIF) in the 1990's on Prime Time (8 - 10 PM) television (TV), which was two hours of family-center sitcom shows.
.
I just found out today that some of those TV show's theme songs on TGIF were composed by Jesse Frederick. Some of these shows were produced by Miller-Boyett. Some of "their" shows includes Full House, Family Matters, Step By Step, Fuller House, Two Of A Kind, Bosom Buddies (which starred Tom Hanks), Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, & Laverne & Shirley.
.
These shows were fun to watch. I enjoyed watching the families in these shows. I was attracted to a kind of family life that I didn't always have. They had bigger houses than my trailer that I grew up inside in the so-called ghetto Rose Grove of Forest Grove, Oregon, USA. I love the theme songs. I love the joyfulness, adventure, & comedy that they had. It was something I looked forward to. I was even learning a bit as well. I didn't realize that some of these shows were sung & produced by the same people. That is part of the reason why I loved them so much. TGIF first ran from 1989 - 2000. TGIF was very popular in the United States during the '90's because it made us feel so good & it made us love our families more.

Teach in Cambodia?

I need to make a Vietnam Visa. I live in Q.1, TP.HCM right now. My visa expired on the 9th of December 2015. I can't extend my visa. I will go to Cambodia. I will try to get a Vietnam Visa. People say there is a police report on me. Maybe the government doesn't like me. They say I'm on a blacklist. Maybe, I won't be allowed to come back to Vietnam.
.
I might try to teach in Cambodia until I can return to Vietnam. I like Vietnam. I love Vietnam. If I leave Vietnam, I might not be permitted back. I do not know why. I like VN. I don't do drugs, smoke or even drink beer. I don't even have sex with people. I'm a virgin. I'm like Mother Teresa. I'm not in a bad gang. I don't have tattoos, piercings. I don't say bad words. I'm nice to people. I don't fight. I teach & help & volunteer. I really hope I can come back. I will go to the capital of Cambodia, that is Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I want to meet people in Cambodia. I do not know how long I will be in Cambodia. I will try to come back to Vietnam as soon as I can but the future is uncertain.
.
I need to be prepared for the best and for the worse. I need backup plans and I need to take care of myself somehow. I will have to pay for a late fine at the border when I leave Vietnam, which will be maybe ten dollars for each day I overstay in Vietnam, which is now about twelve or more days now, as of the 22nd of December 2015, today, on a Tuesday evening. I will do whatever I can in my life to help others. Thank you so much and feel free to contact me or to see me whenever you can or something. Why am I on the blacklist? I do not know yet. There are many things I do not know. I will try to figure things out as much as I can each day.

DIE IN VN....

My visa expired. I have no house. I am homeless. I do not work. I will continue to live in Vietnam for now. I will continue to help people until I die or until the police throw me in jail. I will not give up doing what is right. I want to be a martyr for change.

Off Topic Topics..

"Too many topics" says students. As an English Teacher, I dive into rabbit trails. They feel distracted, overwhelmed, unprepared, & confused. For example, the class topic might be "FAMILY." I can ask you about your mother's occupation
.
Maybe your mother is a doctor. The topic might be "Family" but I may then ask about medicine, doctors, hospitals, nurses, & other things that may seem to be unrelated to the main topic of family, which can hurt my students. People feel lost around me. They drop out (quit) of my class. They give up (surrender). Are my classes too crazy? Maybe, but life is crazy as well. I want to prepare people for the real world. Life is full of twists & turns. Life is unpredictable. Be open to innovative ways of new teaching methods. Expect the best but accept the worse in life
.
In class, my questions are often too open-ended & general. They may not like it if I ask, "What's new?" because there are so many different answers that you can give to that question. I can ask about music. Tell me about work. Tell me about food. Talk about your personal life. These are general suggestions & questions. For beginners, I type more on the keyboard & display it on a screen. I have teaching assistants who translate my English to Vietnamese. I will also write my questions in different ways if and when the questions are too hard
.
I can ask you a question that is more general. What's new? Good question. If that question is too hard, I can add more words to it. What's new in your life? How are you? How are you doing? What did you do this week? I can ask a question in different ways. I give them sample answers for example. I like talking about many different topics because I want to help people learn how to better navigate between topics. Normally, we just talk. We don't play games or watch videos. But we can if students want to. Education needs to be more immersive....

Find Teachers...

Improve your English in two months. Step one, start an English diary. You can write in Vietnamese or other languages, but try to write in English as much as possible. Write new English words. Make sentences with new words. Write questions in English. Write words you like.
.
Step two, find a teacher. Find a tutor. Find a native English speaker who is fluent in English. It is normally better to find foreigners. Have at least one teacher. Meet your teacher once a week. Better yet, meet your coach daily. Talk to your instructor for a minimum of one hour each day or each week or each month. Take notes. Your teacher can write notes on his computer. Your teacher can email you class notes. You can review it later. Talk about your family. How many people are there in your family? Tell me about your family. Talk about your hometown. Talk about your hobbies. Talk about your parents. Talk about school. What is your major? Which (what) subjects do you study? Do you work? Do you study? Are you a student? What kind of work do you want to have? What do you like doing? What are your favorite things to do? Talk about music. What do you like to eat, drink, & do? Buy some books with some basic topics. Study English with your friends & teachers. Study at schools, houses, coffee shops, parks, rooms, classrooms, beaches, and other places. Study as often as you can. Try your best.
.
Focus on communication & pronunciation first. Listen as much as you can and then speak. Focus on grammar a little, step by step. Learn grammar gradually as you are ready to. Learn how to say something and then learn the grammar for it (behind the scenes). Listen and repeat. Try different methods for learning. Focus on what works the best for you. Different people learn differently. Some people struggle to learn in big classes because they have different needs and they learn differently. People are unique. Talk to people about how to learn better. Learn subjects & other things as you learn English. Think in English. Read books about how to learn better. Make lists & review & practice daily. Make a list of your progress. Record your voice, your audio, & video as well. Study the way you talk & the way you act in videos. Live & learn. No pain, no gain. We can all learn from each other. Have fun while learning via books, films, music, games, methods, connections, jokes, funny things, flash cards, etc.....

Hit Children OK?

How can we help children become independent? It takes some trust. Have some faith in kids for what they can become in the future & not for the mistakes they make today. How much time should we devote to farther the education of the youth? The more the time, the better the results. The more, the better. We reap what we sow.
.
Should we hit rebellious bullies & brats & troublemakers & criminals & juvenile delinquents & children with learning disabilities, family problems, & other things? These are good questions. It is true to some extent that if we spare the rod then we spoil the kid. So, of course we must discipline them. That is not the question. Rather, it is a question of how.... or how much do we discipline them? Sometimes, we need to spank kids. But we must do so in love like parents. And teachers must be like substitute parents. They must continue the work of raising the children into maturity. Children are our future. We must give kids opportunities to grow. Should we let them make mistakes? Yes, we need to let them live and learn. They can learn more and grow more through experiences. They cannot just trust you...... they need to learn through some experiences... to some extent. When you discipline people, please be patient and try your best to have conversations with them about why they are disciplined and punished. Why? Because they cannot learn from their mistakes if they don't know what their mistakes are. Too often, parents discipline kids without telling them what they did wrong. Please take the time to be kind enough and hard enough on kids.
.
Please take the time to gain perspective, to see life from their eyes, paradigms, point of view, perspective, opinions..... they are not adults and they are not at that level yet..... give them more responsibilities and jobs and work and chores and freedom, step by step, day by day, year by year, little by little, as they are growing up. People are so important. People begin as children. Please invest in the education of children. Regardless of who you are, you can contribute more to children and therefore to our future for all of humanity for all of eternity. Please smile more and thank you so much.

Gullible Perspective...

I'm gullible. In other words, I'm easily tricked, fooled, deceived, betrayed, taken advantage, rejected, because I trust people maybe too much. The older I get, the less I trust people, but I'm still child-like in a good way or childish in a bad way because I have perspective & hope for the development & future of other people. Unlike most people, I'm actually more focus on helping others more than taking care of myself.

Cry For The Lost...

Show your heart to others in the way you talk, through the way you live, by the way you refrain from wrath, for the sake of others, from the goodness of your heart of gold. Let your light so shine before men & women alike for the glory & the integrity of eternity.
.
Talk to me about what really matters in life. My ears are perked open to your burdens & concerns. I'm listening with my immortal soul. Don't be afraid to open up & to share your darkest secrets, your deepest sorrows, your triumphs, & your curiosity. People are & were designed for human interaction which involves social transmission & physical touch as in hugs & other conformation needs. Take the time to tell people you love them. Take the time to share your heart with as many people as you can, but make a priority on a base of loyalty to a few disciples. Treat others as you want to be treated. Seek after sympathy (to understand people who are different) and empathy (to relate to those like you).

Two Options For Learning English

Learn English with me at Anh Coffee, Q.1, TP.HCM:

Learn English speaking with me. Do you want to meet me this morning? I'm free today. I have free time all day. You can meet me today. You can call me or my friends. Come see me somewhere. Come to the 23/9 Park, to a coffee shop, school or something & practice English with me. You can call my friends & talk to them in Vietnamese if you're too shy to talk to me in English. Please call me or call us when you are ready. I'm an American. I'm from the United States of America. I'm a foreigner. I live in Vietnam. Right now, I am living in Saigon (TP.HCM). Learning English can be fun. How can we improve our listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, thinking, living, and other skills that can help us live better, learn better, grow better, work better, be better, love better, play better, & everything else? Those are good questions that we can explore & stuff. Learn life skills & English through conversations, & communication, & learn English while learning other things as well in life.
.
How can we master English? How do we overcome fear & shyness? The truth is that emotions are always there & we can't always run from them. We need to learn to accept our emotions as part of who we are. We should write it down in our personal diaries & review weekly. We should learn from the past & move on. We should focus on what we can do & not just on what we cannot do. We should smile more & wait before crying. Please wait at least twenty seconds before yelling, becoming too angry, before you regret things you can't take back. Don't let the fear of failure stop you from living life. If you are good with people, you might be a leader. If not, then you may be more of a technical expert at certain skills. You may be an expert at something which leaders love. Leaders will find you useful & stuff. Make friends with me. We can learn from each other. We can have a good time & stuff.

Joey Arnold Yort Kcinroc, you misunderstand why I write what I write: I write using thing that new English learners can understand: you have to learn to sympathize, empathize, adapt, relate, and go down to the levels of the readers: I use illustrations and certain key words that may not necessarily be direct synonyms but are rather however related loosely and is therefore used more like examples or something like a brain storm reference which works much better than archaic book definitions that are far too boring for me and my students.... you are stuck in very old traditionalism that dwarfs your logic and reasoning skills..... you are just here to complain and to destroy.... you are a bully and you just want to make yourself feel better

Yort Kcinroc You've got it all wrong sunshine. SOME of your definitions are incorrect for the vocabulary or phrases you are posting. I didn't even mention using a dictionary or book definitions so that's not where I am coming from. If I was trying to be a bully I would have given a much more scathing review of your (wrong) defintions and examples, but I chose to try and educate you in a polite way. If you as a teacher cannot take advice from other teachers then you've got your head in the sand. We all learn new things daily so I suggest you open your mind otherwise your poor students will be the ones suffering for your shortcomings.

Joey Arnold No, wrong. You are wrong. There are reasons for what I write. You are in denial. You have a problem. You are closed minded. You are not evening listening to me. I am listening to you but you are not being clear enough. You suggested alternative deifinitions which may counter from mine but does not eliminate and disqualify the sentences and words that I wrote. I choose different ways of explaining things and you are not willing to accept it or you are pretending not to

Yort Kcinroc Okay I've determined you are a typical unqualified ESL know it all teacher. I really feel sorry for the people you are attempting to educate.....Vietnamese people deserve better than you. You should be ashamed of yourself!
Joey Arnold
Joey Arnold Yort Kcinroc, you should grow up. You say things without sufficient evidence & prove. You are proving me right by ignoring what i say. What I have said has been ignored by you through premature judgment & justification. You do not determine as much as you say you do. You are just talking. You may not be a fluent speaker in English. It is possible that English is not your first language. I did not say that it was or wasn't. The difference between you and me is that I am open to be wrong while you're not. You've made up your mind a long time ago and that is why you will probably die sooner than me. You are not learning as much as me. I did not say that I was a know it all. You continue to say whatever you want without considering who you are talking to. You are not talking to me. That is the problem. You are actually only talking to who you think I am based through adn with your own lens of perception and perspective skewed by hate and pride that is ignorant and arrogant and partial abnd bias and outdated and expired..... you do not read what I write and you seem to be against illustrations and parables and applications and more innovative ways of learning, of education
